Hostility Level (Passive)

A strider is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and striders. Because a strider is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, a strider has 10 hearts  for health. This gives a strider 20 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a strider, you need to inflict 20 points of damage to the strider.

Where to Find Striders

In Minecraft, you can find striders in the lava seas in the Nether dimension.

If you haven’t been to the Nether, you need to build a nether portal to take you to the Nether. When you walk through a nether portal, it will transport you between the Overworld and the Nether.

This is what a nether portal looks like:

If you are having trouble finding a strider, you can summon a strider using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A strider does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk near a strider and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack a strider, it will just try to run away. It will not attack you back.

Behavior

The strider is attracted to the smell of warped fungus from either of these items:

A strider will follow you if you hold either warped fungus or warped fungus on a stick. In fact, holding one of these items is a great way to lure a strider out of the lava seas. Even after being attacked, a strider will still continue to follow the smell of warped warped fungus.

Drops

When you kill a strider in Minecraft, it will drop string.

If the strider was wearing a saddle, the saddle would also have been dropped when the strider was killed.

Make sure you pick up the dropped items before they disappear. These are useful and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a strider, you will gain 1-3 experience points.
